겸손한 사는 것은 쉬운 일이 아니다

늘 청정함을 추구하고 집착하지 않으며
겸손하고 깨끗하며 자신을 뒤돌아보는,
이러한 삶을 살기는 쉬운 일이 아니네.
Hard is the life of a modest one who ever seeks purity,
is detached, humble, clean in life, and reflective.

오계를 지키지 않는 사람은 스스로를 파멸시킨다.
He who does not observe the five precepts ruins himself

생명을 파괴하고 거짓말을 하며
주지 않는 물건을 취하고 간음을 행하며
취하게 하는 음식물에 중독되는 사람은
바로 이 생애에서까지도 자기 뿌리를 파게 되네.
He who destroys life, tells lies, takes what is not given, commits adultery, and is addicted to intoxicating drinks, digs in his own roots even in this very life.
