고통을 끝내기 위해 이 길을 따르라      
Follow this path to end suffering

그대 이 길을 따르면 고통의 끝을 이룩하리.
이것이 (고통의) 화살을 뽑아내는 법을 배웠을 때
내가 선포한 바로 그 길이네.
Following this way you shall make an end of suffering.
This verily is the way declared by me when I had learnt to remove the arrow (of suffering).

그대 스스로 힘써라      
You must exert yourselves

그대 스스로 노력해야 하리.
여래는 다만 (길을 안내해준) 스승일 뿐이네.
이 길로 들어 명상하는 사람들은 악마의 속박에서 벗어나리.
You yourselves should make the effort
the Tathagatas are only teachers.
Those who enter this path and who are meditative,
are delivered from the bonds of Mara.
